5 reasons everybody's talking about Jamie!

Book your tickets now for our LIVE showing from London's West End - July 5 at 19:20

1. It's based on a true story...

Meet Jamie Campbell and his mum Margaret, they're the real-life inspiration behind this smash hit musical. Although not from Sheffield (they're actually from a small mining town in County Durham!) Jamie did face bullies and defy his teachers to go to his school prom wearing a fabulous dress. He too also dreamed of becoming a drag queen, with BBC Three even making a documentary about him and his drag alter ego Fifi La True.

2. It's getting turned into a film...

Sheffield-based Warp Films announced last month that they'll be turning the musical into a full length feature film. To stay true to the original plot they are holding open auditions in the city to find their very own Jamie New and his Year 11 classmates. Filming is expected to start in 2019, so you better keep an eye out for the movie hitting our screen very soon!

3. It's multi-award winning...

Despite not even being on the West End for a full year yet the show has racked up 3 WhatsOnStage awards including Best New Musical , Best Leading Actor for John McCrea and Best Supporting Actress for Lucie Shorthouse. The show was also nominated for 5 Olivier awards and the cast performed at the ceremony.

4. The songs and cast are amazing...

With everything from toe-tapping singalong numbers to slow emotional ballads the show has songs to suit all tastes, and it's little wonder when they're written by chart topping singer songwriter Dan Gillespie Sells, frontman of soft rock band The Feeling. Combine them with a cast brimming with energy and talent and you're definitely onto a winner!

5. It's coming to your local Light Cinema!

So brace yourself for a fabulous night of singing and dancing as you discover a little bit of glitter in the grey as Jamie New steps out of the darkness and into the spotlight to show us the real meaning of friendship and being true to yourself.
