Off The Shelf: My Letter to the World + Q&A

Last shown on 6 October 2018

The film will be followed by a live and in-person Q&A with director Sol Papadopoulos.

Emily Dickinson has spent the 130 years since her death unfairly pigeonholed as the strange recluse in white.-Filmed in her home town of Amherst, Massachusetts, this documentary is an in-depth exploration of her life and work. Alongside expert analysis it features behind the scenes clips from Terence Davies’ biopic of the poet A Quiet Passion.

My Letter to the World takes us on a journey through the seasons of Emily’s life in mid-1800s New England as we engage with her passionate relationships via her letters and poems. As new theories come to light about both Emily Dickinson’s personal relationships and her poetry, we talk to world experts and bring their conflicting opinions to the screen.
